Vin de Table from the Loire Valley; 12.5% abv; $18 USD. Organic. When I bought this I was told it was a Gamay from the Loire Valley (at least that's what I remember being told, because I was looking for interesting Beaujolais at the time) but a little research reveals it to be a Groslot (sometimes it's called Grolleau,) a grape I had never heard of. When I tasted it I thought wow! it's amazing how much difference terroir makes in a Gamay, but it did it fact seem Gamay-like, though more intense. Very bright penetrating red fruits - cherry and strawberry - not syrupy and jammy, just intense and expressive, followed by a wonderful mouth watering acidity. Nothing overly complex, but a good easy drinking wine in the way that a Bojo is often "unserious" - even though I take them seriously. I'd take more of this, and would be willing to bet it might benefit from a few years in the cellar.
