2002 Veritas Petit Verdot

Label says its 80% PV and 20% Cab Franc. Alc 12.5% Body is full which given the stated alcohol is somewhat a surprise. There is a touch of something green in the nose and also in the initial taste of the wine but not in an unpleasent way. It does not taste underripe - just a touch of something herbal. After the initial herbalness, the fruit takes over and continues thorugh the aftertaste. Not going to try to pin down the fruit especially after the minerallity discussion.

My wife refuses to believe that the fruit was from VA looking for anything on the bottle that would indicate that all/part of the grapes were imported.

Overall a very fine wine and ranks up there with those of Linden and Barboursville. No wonder David B keeps bringing it up.

That herbal element is probably from the Cab Franc. I have yet to taste a Virginia Cab Franc that does not have at least a little of that element.
