WTN: freakout White...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Sat Aug 29, 2009 12:19 pm

Tried this last night w/ my tofu concasse:
1. freakout LunaVnyds NapaVlly WW (13.5%; http://www.LunaVineyards.com; PinotGrigio/RibollaGialla.SauvBlanc/Chard) 2007: Light gold color; very attractive fragrant/fruity light floral/pear/honeydew nose; soft floral/pear/melon light nutmeg/spicy pleasant flavor; med.long attractive floral/pear finish; a pretty little wine at a more than fair price. $12.00

1. The freakout name came from winemaker MikeDrashe's first experience w/ some of the Friuli whites. That I can relate to. Does this wine resemble a Friulian white?? Probably not, unless it's a mild-mannered Friuli PinotGrigio. It's a bit short on the acid and minerality typical of better examples of those wines of Friuli. freakout is a pretty wine...just that.

Seems like a fitting way to honor the 40th anniversary of Woodstock, anyway!

Interesting sounding wine, Tom. You conflating Mike Drash with Mike Dashe?

Nope...according to their WebSite, his name is MikeDrashe. GeorgeVare is one of the Luna owners and is very interested in Friulian varieties.

Nope. I think that you'd best check their site again.

All the best,
