2005 Pousse d'Or Santenay 1er Cru Clos Tavannes
From 375 ml, this is very primary, but also reveals a little bit of its inner self underneath the ripe fruit. Some earthy aromatics emerge over time, and there's more of an acidic spine than a year ago, giving a greater sense of balance to what was at one time a monolithic wine. From the half bottle this appears to be (thankfully) on a bit of a fast track, so there's good reason to take a look if you own this wine in quantity (especially in 375s). It worked very well with a grilled steak.
