WTN: 2006 Tissot Trousseau Singulier Arbois

2006 Domaine Andre et Mireille Tissot Trousseau Singulier Jura Arbois 13.0%
Vinified by Stephane Tissot. We've been tasting excellent Poulsards but last month, on successive nights, we compared a Poulsard and a Trousseau from Domaine Baud, a mid-level producer, and preferred the latter. Intrigued, we decided to investigate this underpraised varietal.

Aromas are sour cherry and sousbois; I would have guessed a fine but basic Bourgogne with utter certainty.... Mouthfeel is quite wonderful: vibrant acidity, thick mouthfeel (not sure if highly extracted or the 13% alcohol), grippy tannins, and a finish that harmoniously combines light bitterness with a hint of sweetness. The cherry became darker in the mouth and an undertow of spices made the gestalt exotic. This wine felt very complete, with simply no flaws. Very satisfying, both sensually and intellectually. I would give this a score of, er, this is a wonderful wine!
"I went on a rigorous diet that eliminated alcohol, fat and sugar. In two weeks, I lost 14 days." Tim Maia, Brazilian singer-songwriter.

Sounds cool.

I need to drink my 2005. Low sulfur means questionable keeping. It may even be too late. :?

Brian, although I don't have absolute proof, I'd say you will be fine with your 2005. Stéphane uses a reasonable, safe level of SO2 at bottling for most of his wines with the notable exception of his Poulsard where he tries for no or very low sulphur.

Nothing to stop you enjoying it soon though!
