2000 Adrian Fog, Hawkeye Vineyard

by GeoCWeyer » Sun Aug 16, 2009 10:35 am

I discovered in the bottom corner of my Pinot section my last bottle of this wine.
My thoughts as I drank it-
Nose: alcohol with a hint of possible fruit
Initial taste: Hot, sharp, where is the fruit?
Initial swallow: Wow! that clears the throat!
The wine did not improve.

Either the bottle I opened had been severely cooked or I should have followed my "5 year rule" that I follow on most American Pinots. I don't think it was cooked because I drank it's two sisters years ago and enjoyed them.
I believe that it was the Pinot from the Hawkeye Vineyard that initially caused this winery to gain popularity.
I love the life I live and live the life I love*, and as Mark Twain said, " Always do well it will gratify the few and astonish the rest".

*old blues refrain
