WTN: 2003 Signorello Cab-Old World Style?

by Brian K Miller » Thu Aug 06, 2009 10:26 am

Definitely not a fruit bomb style, this was a very dry, not particularly fruity Napa Valley Cab with a whisper of dark cassis fruit and plenty of tobacco and leather and some decent acidity. At 14.2% abv, the alcohol does not stick out very much, either. Not sure there is the depth of fruit to merit aging this any further-even now this is all about the tobacco and the leather, but this style of wine is actually right up my alley. 90 points+ Third bottle tried, with similar "Old Worldish" results each time.
