Girard Old Vine Zin 2005, Napa Valley, California
76% Zin 24% Petite Sirah

The vineyard sources for Girard 2005 Old Vine Zin are Blue Ridge and Morgan vineyards on Mt Vaca. Mt Vaca is the highest peak of the Vaca Range, which forms the eastern border of the Napa Valley.
In appearance the wine is a clear and brilliant dark ruby color on the edges, in the center it is as “black” as midnight. On the nose and palate, I got dark red and black fruit, warm spices, and a hint of cocoa. Definitely a full-bodied wine, good balance, and well made. The tannins are well integrated and smooth and rounded. Lingering and pleasant aftertaste. (16)
