Siduri TN wanted

by JuliaB » Sat Jul 25, 2009 7:16 pm

I have searched and googled until I am cross-eyed, but cannot find a recent tasting note of Siduri PN '99 Willamette Valley.
Anyone?

TIA,
JB

Even CellarTracker shows no info more recent than some 2000 and 2001 notes posted as archival material. I have little doubt that most of this wine was consumed very shortly after release.

Sooner or later someone has to be that person. It's not like people are hoarding Siduri Pinot for its auction value in Asia (note - I like Siduri Pinot).

It actually an interesting question. Perhaps I will start a thread.

I will say that Adam Lee is on line a lot (he's always posting on eBob), so you could probably send him an e-mail & ask him the question.

Julia Hi....

Perhaps my own tasting note will help. If you are not familiar with the style of my notes, be sure to read the tasting date.

Siduri, Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley, Oregon, 1999: Deep cherry-red towards garnet, medium-bodied, with appealing currant and blackberry fruits supported nicely by notes of garrigue and a generous layer of spices that rises on the finish. Drink now-2007. Score 89. (Tasted 27 Jun 2001)

Julia, Hi....

Worth opening at any rate but, on the chance that the wine has not matured with grace be sure to have a standby bottle at hand.

One thing to keep in mind is that 1999 was a very good year for Willamette Valley. In general, more ageworthy.

I was just going to add what Michael said. 99 was a great year and the St. Innocents and Serenes I've got from that year are phenomenal. But I'm not sure Adam makes pinots with aging in mind, so it would depend a lot on the fruit he had.

Ahhh..ask and you shall receive! Jenise and Michael were right about the vintage, and Rogov was spot on in his tasting notes. (Of course). I wrote to the winery and received this prompt reply. (Reprinted here with permission)

Hi Julia,

Thank you for your message. We don't know if you have the last existing
bottle of our 1999 Siduri Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, but we can help
you with the tasting notes (see attached).

We usually recommend 3-5 years of bottle maturation on our appellation
wines, for optimum enjoyment. However, as 1999 was a good year in the
Willamette Valley, and this particular wine showed has some decent acid
and great tannin structure, we believe it will have aged very well. We
would encourage you to open the bottle and enjoy, sooner rather than
later, however.

If you have any other questions regarding this, or any of our Siduri and
Novy Family Wines, please do no hesitate to contact us here at the
winery (707)-578-3882 or via e-mail at vino@siduri.com

Cheers,

Jeff Shaeffer

My curiosity piqued, I am anxious to taste this wine! Will be getting back to you soon on this one.
