WTN: Robert Mondavi Napa Cabernet Suvignon 2003

Brilliant but not an especially deep color. Slight heat on the nose. Earthy, and a bit of barnyard overlaying ripe fruit. This gives way to some toffee sweetness after a few minutes in the glass. Medium-rich and well balanced. Still tannic but you shouldn't have to wait too long for this wine to peak. maybe up to 2 years. The oak barely registers in this wine. Dryish finish with good length. A warm and attractive wine. Very good but if you drink it now, be sure to decant it for at least 30 minutes. A solid Napa Cab.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

That about nails it. Often when I am traveling I can get the Mondavi Napa Cab by the glass. It's usually a pretty safe choice for a nice, solid, but not profound glass of wine. Not much more can be asked for the price.
