WTN: 2007 Buehler Zinfandel

Napa.

Eileen and I had steamed crabs yesterday late afternoon, which were a little on the small side but heavy and full of mustard. Beer was the beverage of choice with the crabs, of course, after which we always crave something a little sweet so.......Buehler zin. Right out of the bottle flavors of briary zin with butterscotch. After 30 minutes the wine opened to display deeper zin and black fruit flavors with dark chocolate notes on the fine tannin laden finish. Buehler zins, to me, show the darker more subtle side of the grape with restrained sweetness which, once in a while, I like to pair with steaks and such where you might just routinely grab a cab. Nice wine but needs a little time in the bottle. That little sweet, "after dinner drink", hit the spot. 14.5% Alc/vol. Think I paid $15 to $20 range.
