WTN: Jaffurs Viognier '99...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Jul 13, 2009 12:39 pm

Cracked last night w/ my hanger steak:
1. Jaffurs Viognier SantaBarbaraCnty (13.9%) 1999: Light gold color; attractive pear/Viognier slight waxy/honeyed some pineapply/fruit cocktail lovely/perfumed nose; some tart bit lean lush/pear/Viognier light nutmeg/honeyed/waxy/pineapply quite perfumed flavor; med.long bright/pear/Viognier waxy/honeyed/nutmeg light pineapply finish; lost some of the original intense Viognier fruit but little gains in complexity; an interesting lovely/subtle Viognier. $24.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. This wine was originally a pretty intense peach/pear/Viognier, shading towards the DollyParton part of the Viognier spectrum. It's lost a lot of that intense Viognier fruit and segued into a more subtle wine, but still distinctly a Viognier. I loved the wine for that more subtle character. Alas...I felt compelled to dump most of the btl down the drain because we've been scolded by the wine critics to drink Viognier in its youth. So sad.

Surely, surely, Dave...you don't think I'd ignore the admonitions of the famous wine critics!!! Why you could lose your privledges on eBob
for such scurrilous behavior!!! :-)

Nope...drank it with relish..down to the last drop.
