Cabernet Sauvignon, Spring Mountain above St. Helena.
Quite elegant, but poor storage took its toll later in the evening (not by me, the shop where I bought it, I have come to realize, not only does not have a cool room, it does not even keep its store very cool...and this is fine for early drinkers, of course).
Still... a very restrained mountain cab. Tannins have softened. Oak is balanced. Not fruitless...there is some brambly black currant and berry fruit befitting its Spring Mountain source, but there is also a savory finish which I like. Midpalate seemed slightly hollow. It did fade/pick up a rather odd note later in the evening that suggested this has no more time, but overall we enjoyed this.
Solid 87 points.
