So-called "super Tuscan": 40% Cab Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 20% Sangiovese. 14% alcohol. Bought through some Cali discounter (LAWC?), approx. $50. Opened, while a still a little young, to have with steak, celebrating the 4th with my brother who was visiting from NYC. Decanted for approx 2 hours. Wine was everything that I had hoped: rich, complex, lovely full nose, great mouth feel. As we drank, and it opened more, it showed a wider variety of (dark?) fruit.
Very nice bottle, though the next AM (i.e, now) none of that ability to still taste it in the mouth that I find in more delineated, usually french wines, Burgundes, but most recently a 2000 Bahans Haut-Brion (the graphite of which really lingered).
Happy 5th!
