2006 Plantaze Merlot Crnogorski 12.0%
From Montenegro, a gift from friends who live in Istria. Aroma is subdued, with cherry and something fatty, like smoked lard or slightly rancid butter. Satisfying body, good acidity, well balanced with simple but juicy fruit, unfortunately marred by a note of rubber that doesn't subside with aeration (to Marcia, it tastes more like smoked meat). Would have been quite quaffable, otherwise.
"I went on a rigorous diet that eliminated alcohol, fat and sugar. In two weeks, I lost 14 days." Tim Maia, Brazilian singer-songwriter.
