WTN: The Last Ditch Viognier 2007

by Bruce Hayes » Thu Jul 02, 2009 9:02 pm

d'Arenberg
Adealaide Hills-McLaren Vale
100 per cent barrel-fermented

Fairly rich yellow in the glass.

Smoky, toasty, spicy, citrus rind on the nose.

Rich, big structure, lime, with a hint of orange, creamy, tangy, peppery, smoky, lively, slightly floral, spicy.

Floral, tangy and drying on the finish.

Not exactly a standard Viognier, but quite enjoyable.
Screwcap closure

Purchased at $19.95 (Canadian).
