Happy summer solstice to all!

Well, at least on the northern hemisphere!
For you southerners: now the light starts to return!

I always liked what I heard a resident of Belem (Brazil) once said: "We have two seasons. Summer and the hot season"

Q: So, what do you do in Buffalo in the Summer?
A: Well, if it happens on a weekend, we have a picnic. :)
Chico - Hey! This Bottle is empty!
Groucho - That's because it's dry Champagne.

As a southerner, I resemble that last remark, Anders ..... and it reminded me of a wonderful Ellington tune I enjoy playing on the piano, "I'm beginning to see the light".

Thanks for the kind wishes, old chap. Hope to see you in 8 hours and 10 minutes.
Cheers,

David

A belated thank you, Anders! I assume you did a little dancing around the Maypole in honor of the occasion!

8) Summer!

And now the days get shorter! Yay! (For the record - I hate summer.)

Yes, I already seem to notice the downhill slide. Time to get out the red wines - well not quite I guess.

Though the calander says summer, the weather doesn't. If it ever stops raining we will try to enjoy it. Miss using the grill. We smoked a turkey in the rain on the 21st!

Why?

I'm not a big fan of the heat but I would never say I 'hate' the summer.

Plus the summer fruits and vegetables make up for all that heat.. :D

Love the fruits and veggies, but the humidity just kills me.

I see. And for the most part I agree... Which is why we're looking forward to the 'cool' temperatures of New England.

Of course everything has its downside

Well I think you'll enjoy the early fall. July and August are no different than most places - warm & humid.

On the other hand, I agree with Henry James, "two of the most beautiful words in the English language..."summer afternoon!" I love the long days, fresh veggies, peaches, tomatoes, long days, Rose's, roses, Muscadets, did I say peaches?, maybe even a cigar after dinner on the porch (while I watch the hummingbirds), white Bordeaux, grilling-out, chilling-out, Pinot Noirs, Beaujolais, and the best part.....you have September, October, and November to look forward too. It's like having money in the bank, and the fall is like spending it. They are both fun!
