This is where you might find me ...

by Gary Barlettano » Sat Jun 20, 2009 12:57 pm

I got a little part time gig spilling wine on tourists for Vezér Family Vineyard in California's Suisun Valley (Napa's next valley neighbor).

There are three venues two of which I'll be working at. At the moment, I'll be at the Blue Victorian, although every now and then I might be at the Mankas Corner place. More details should you ask for them. WARNING: I have a great habit of getting fired so get in touch first if you decide to drop by.

Congrats on the new job. And those look charming! Is it Napa fruit?

Thanks, but I won't thoroughly bask in the congrats until I get out of the 90 day probationary period.

The fruit mostly comes from the Suisun Valley AVA. Some of the fruit, e.g. the Verdelho. comes from their vineyards in Lodi. And, yes, it is quite charming ... better than one of them there cubes in a gopher farm.

Beats me, Chef! I didn't put anything like that on 'em.

Might be a browser issue, Gary. I (obviously) haven't had any trouble viewing your pictures.

Makes no sense to me, either. They are simply hosted on the WLP server, same as all other images uploaded using the message forms here. Gotta be an individual browser or settings problem, but I don't have any diagnostic theories from afar. Other than reboot and try it again. ;)

I can see them, and I'm at work where the nanny programs usually stop everything.

Are the barrels pictured outside full or empty? I would guess empty but have to ask.

Empty. If you look at the picture of the blue house. The very last of the three buildings has stainless steel tanks, barrels, and sometimes a Corvette. (The building in the middle houses a full-sized professional kitchen and the bathrooms.)

What do you see? 1) Nothing? 2) The placeholder where the pic should be? 3) The placeholder with the icon of a broken pic? 4) My Zia Olga playing bocce in Hoboken?

I went to the phpBB website. The FAQs there suggest the administrator has to assign permissions. I'm fairly certain Robin wouldn't chince on you. In any event, from what I read there is nothing you can do about it?

Best of luck in your new gig. I haven't even been able to get the vineyard that I contacted here in Crete to let me work for them for FREE yet

Thank you, Krystyn, I sent out over 300 resumes in the past 18 months and got perhaps 6 interviews, but I imagine that has something to do with my having no wine industry experience and the third eye in the middle of my forehead.

Crete where?

My guess would have been the way my nostrils vent to the sides of my my nose instead of the bottom. I wish you could join me in this bag of Mrs. Vickie's Sea Salt and Vinegar potato chips paired with a Suisun Valley Sauvignon Blanc (75%)/Verdelho (25%, from Lodi) blend. At 1.6% RS and 13% a.b.v., the perfect company on a lonely afternoon in the tasting room!

I hope Papa's got a brand new bag, because I am one of those salty, crunchy kind of people.

I think you should dress in a Scooby Doo costume and stand on the street to draw in the tasters...for some reason, a nearby apt. complex seems to think that is a great marketing tool. Might work a treat for you!

There's a whole of bags out in the kitchen from a recent event!

I'm thinkin' I could dress up like the Free the Grapes logo and go as Gary Grape!

There are some purple primitivo grapes out there! There were none last Wednesday.
