2006 Karl Lawrence Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)
I get a bunch of 375s of this wine each year, and they make perfect accompaniments to steak. Last night I grilled a bone-in ribeye, and the wine paired up very well with the medium rare meat. I had heard the 2006 was more tannic than the 2005, but I am going to go the opposite way, and say that the 2006 seemed softer and even a bit creamy. I might have preferred a bit more structure. (Maybe I am drinking too much young Bordeaux in my middle age.)
The wine was also a surprisingly good match with some woderful cheese that we purchased from Artisanal. I am not normally a red wine with cheese fan, but it worked quite well with a Zamarano and a hard cheese from Uplands Dairy (I think that's the name) in the USA.
