WTN: De Bortoli Vat 4 Petit Verdot 2007

by Bruce Hayes » Sat Jun 13, 2009 12:24 pm

De Bortoli Wines
South Eastern Australia

Dark purple, almost black, in the glass.

Black fruit, spicy, floral nose.

Medium weight, moderately jammy black cherry, blackberries, tobacco, cedar, spicy, lightly tarry, good weight in the mouth, fairly high acidity, with some heat toward the end.

Spicy, peppery, drying on the finish.

With time, the wine became a bit more drying and tannic, so I suspect this would be a candidate for a couple of years in the cellar.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $16.79 (Canadian).

Yup. Have also enjoyed their Petit Sirah. When I am looking for a rich, fruity, robust wine at a reasonable price, I will often turn to De Bortoli.
