"Crau de Ma Mere." Purportedly 100-year old vineyards. This wine was all about the meat and the garrigue. Extremely savory, meaty, herbaceous wine with a fuzzy mouth feel. I kept saying to myself "bacon." Or maybe even, to be really wine-geeky, "prosciutto." If you are looking for strawberry or cherry fruit, not the focus of this wine at all! Which is why I probably liked it! Maybe it is the 100-year old grapes??? but there is quite a wallop of acid in this wine, it tasted quite fresh despite the death year. Some drying tannins, and the finish does have a sharp edge in mouth feel that reduces my rating a bit. Still, solid 90 points! Yum. And, relatively cheap ($39).
