WTN: Bott-Geyl Les Elements Gewurztraminer 2004 and Dow Vintage Port 1985

Bott-Geyl Les Elements Gewurztraminer (Alsace) 2004 - Lot's of rose and a hint of lychee on the nose. Sweet attack and a dry finish. Light and crisp. It has a very even flavor so it doesn't have much complexity. That said, it's a solidly made wine that's a textbook example of gewurztraminer. Very nice and an easy drink.

Dow Vintage Port 1985 - Decanted carefully but it seems the sediment was so firmly stuck to the bottle that as far as I could see, no sediment came out of the bottle even though I poured the bottle dry. Pale. Chocolate and raisins on the nose. Spicy, plummy wine. Not a great deal of sweetness. Just enough to keep everything in balance. Very smooth with very little tannin. Muted alcohol. Such an easy wine to drink. Long, dry finish. I don't have much experience with Vintage Port but this must be drinking at its peak now. Really lovely wine.
