WTN: Henry of Pelham Sauvignon Blanc 2007

by Bruce Hayes » Fri Jun 05, 2009 9:05 pm

Niagara Peninsula

Medium dark yellow in the glass.

A fresh nose, with light citrus rind.

Fleshy orange, lemon, lime, with just a hint of gooseberry-grapefruit, spicy, medium weight, somewhat thick in the mouth, peppery, rich, refreshing, bordering on gulpable, good acidity and tanginess but lacking any kind of sharpe edge.

A mouthwatering finish.

A real summer wine.

Screwcap closure.

Purchased at $14.95 (Canadian).

Thanks for the note Bruce.

Sauvignon has proven itself capable of making very nice crisp, tense, flavourful dry whites in Ontario. I really enjoy our Sauvignons, though I do wonder how well adapted the vines are to our winters.

This is a totally useless and unconstructive comment, but every time I see the name "Henry of Pelham" I cannot control the impulse to mentally add "One Two Three" to it. If the movie reference is to obscure for anyone, I offer this:
