Novy Syrah DryCreekVlly (UntiVnyd; 3% Viog; 67 cs; 14.3%) 2006: Very dark color; strong blackberry/boysenberry/Syrah light toasty/Fr.oak slight licorice/pungent/spicy nose; soft bit tannic/hard blackberry/boysenberry/Syrah light licorice/chocolaty light toasty/Fr.oak flavor; med.long some hard/tannic strong blackberry/boysenberry/Syrah/chocolaty lightly oak finish; needs 2-4 yrs; a very nice Syrah at a great price. $19.00

1. I'm not a very big fan of DryCreekVlly Syrahs. I find they often are a bit on the shallow and often speak more of Zin than Syrah (the Carlisles being an obvious exception), or, as some folks would say..."A Syrah made by a Zin producer". This wine was definitely not that. Spoke very much of Syrah and would be hard to mistake it for a Zin. Not a profound Syrah, just very tasty drinking. Sometimes that's all you want w/ your meal.
