My first Ponsot.
Dark, but not roasted. Brambly, sweet...incredibly ripe without being overly extracted. There's oak here, but not too much. There's just a hint of thinness on the back-end that betrays this as a lesser cuvee, something about it that suggests it wont last long. But there's a lot here now. The nose is full and complex, almost inscrutable. After tonight's glass, I don't think I've fully figured out what's going on yet, but all I can say is that its real, real good and I'm really looking forward to glass #2 tomorrow. Well worth the $, very "Morey" based upon the handful of other wines I've had from this village.
Entirely worthy of the reputation.
