WTN: Santa Florentina Malbec-Syrah 2008

Vallée de Famatina, Argentina
La Riojana Coop

A 60-40 blend.

Light cherry red in the glass.

Red licorice and cinnamon on the nose.

Quite tangy, smoky, light to medium weight, jammy raspberry and cherry, toasted, spicy, floral, red licorice, good acidity, with a light bitter bite toward the end.

With time, the wine closed up a little, becoming tangier and drrier and losing some of its initial fruit.

Spicy, lightly jammy fruit and drying on the long finish.

Purchased at $8.65 (Canadian) and an outstanding QPR.
