2002 Dry Riesling, Sheldrake Point Vineyards, Finger Lakes (NY):

Not much experience aging wines from this producer, so I thought I would check on this one. Nice golden color, about what one might expect from a 7 year old riesling. Light petrol and fresh sea breeze on the nose. Somewhat rich, oily mouthfeel with ginger, a hint of marzipan, dried apricots and even some red cherry notes(I get this occasionally in riesling). Fairly full bodied, drinking well but could probably develop further. Nice minerals on the moderately long finish. 12.6% abv (more Alsace than Mosel), natural cork (glad they haven't gone to the plastic ones, or else this would likely be toast).
