WTN: The Goldtropfchen (to unlimited devotion)

2002 St. Urbans-Hof Piesporter Goldtropfchen Riesling Spatlese
Purchased in a close out sale for $11/bottle, this has provided a lot of pleasure over the last couple of years. Yellow fruit (peach) and limey slate are just now accompanied by some of those secondary elements of German Riesling (petrol, spice, cream) that add complexity and greater palate interest.

I don't think this has the depth for old bones, but it's very good (if a bit light) now.

Sounds really delicious. Then again Goldtropfchens (at least from my few experiences with that vineyard) usually are - I love the really lush peachy/sometimes tropical fruit those wines seem to have.

$11 sounds pretty nice. Had a nice bit of 2007 von Kesselstatt PG Kabinett tonight, although it showed a bit soft and didn't really win me over. Especially once we poured some Dönnhoff next to it. But, maybe it needs 5 more years of age.

Re: your Kesselstatt

The list of compelling 2007s is not a very long one.

The list of delicious (read as immediately tasty) 2007 is quite lengthy.
