2005 Houghton Chardonnay, Western Australia
Clear, bright pale yellow. On the palate, a creaminess overlaying the mild apple and pear fruit makes it seem lighter than I sense it is or will be, as if some honey and bread dough are just around the corner. A very nice chardonnay to drink now but it has the acidity to keep going if indeed Houghton, or this vintage of Houghton, is an ageable style Aussie Chardonnay. Either way, another Grocery Outlet bargain: just $3.99.
