WTN: 2005 Huet CdB Sec

by Rahsaan » Tue May 12, 2009 9:29 pm

After a long Saturday of various social and cultural activities, my wife and I retired to a (non-wine geek) friend's house, who then proceeded to open a bottle of white wine. I didn't quite know what to expect but as soon as I smelled the 2005 Huet Vouvray Clos du Bourg Sec I was glad that I had encouraged him to explore Vouvray. This was drinking much better than I would have expected (although I'm not sure why I expected otherwise).

It was full, rich, ripe, expressive, seamless and elegant chenin. I was surprised that it was a Sec, but then again I haven't tasted 2005s in several years so my frame of reference was off.

Fun stuff!

As the veterans will say, I'm sure this wine will outlive us all. But for those of us who can't wait, it sure is tasty elegant stuff.

The ultimate question is will it be better in 40 years or just different.

I don't have the experience to weigh in on that issue, but it's a valid question.

Today I'm going to go hunting for trip cancellation consolation and this might be just the ticket...

Too bad about the trip Oswaldo.

I am bringing a 2005 Huet Le Haut Lieu Sec to dinner tonight. We'll see how it goes.

That sounds like a great idea. Unfortunately I looked up the possibility in an actuary table and the table giggled out loud. :(
