2005 Neil Ellis, Sauvignon Blanc, Stellenbosch ($14.99 SHWC). Tech data: Alcohol 13%, Residual sugar 2.5 g/litre, TA 6.8 g/litre, pH 3.35, and a screw cap. It is a very well balanced wine with grapes from multiple vineyards. We bought a half box in ’07.

It gives you tropical fruit on the nose and upfront. There is more fruit with herbaceous overtones, and nice acid in the middle. It finished well.

It is still aging nicely. We popped our second to last one tonight, and it was more mature, but not fading. We matched it with baked stuffed haddock, rice pilaf, and salad. We will try to get to last one in the next year or two!

Thanks for note Carl.
.Neil Ellis makes fine wines and I especially enjoy his sauvignon. He actually makes two and I wonder whether this one is the Vineyard selection or the Premium range?

We've got South Africa on the mind, too. I set out a Neil Ellis cabernet to go with dinner tonight.

Its is the Vineyard Select. I love it when we can find a wine we forgot about, and then discover that it is not only not gone, but better than ever. Beginning to believe in SBs with some age on them.

Cheers, Carl
