WTN: Terre Di Vulcano Aglianico Del Vulture 2006

Every now and then a wine comes along that offers some truly unique flavours. This is one of those wines. My first experience with this grape.

Deep cherry red in the glass.

Light roasted notes, floral, spices on the nose.

Light to medium bodied, cloves, cherry, tangy acidity, floral, spicy, red licorice, red currants, some mild bitterness.

Light bitterness on the finish.

Purchased at $14.95 (Canadian).

They are deffinitely different, and I found a little "hard" to drink. They are supposed to need 8-10 years to show their best. But it's an experiment for me too. I have about 5 bottles that I picked up for $6 on a closeout. We'll see!

That sounds a great QPR wine, particularly given its original flavours.

By coincidence, I opened this wine this week as well. A distinctive wine, and for that reason alone, it is praise-worthy. But it is also a well-made wine that I thoroughly enjoyed drinking. Back to the Vintages store to pick up another bottle or two.
