WTN: Jadot, Rhys, Selbach

2001 Louis Jadot Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrières - France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru (4/11/2009)
Quite focused & lean. Seems very different from prior bottles (fatter in the past) but also quite good.

2006 Rhys Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Santa Cruz Mountains (4/11/2009)
Nicely balanced & full of fruit, this also had a somewhat distracting road tar element.

2007 Selbach-Oster Zeltinger Schlossberg Riesling Spätlese "Schmitt" - Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer (4/11/2009)
Very well balanced & refreshing to drink. It's exactly what I am looking for when I open Mosel Riesling.

Nice lineup. The 'Schmitt' is really an amazing wine (and now you're making me want to open my remaining bottle...)

Funny, I said the same thing to my wife last night while we were drinking the 2007 Vollenweider Portz Spätlese.

And I wasn't even sure if it was true. I mean I might find other more archetypal Mosel rieslings. But all of those parlor debates were irrelevant while we were lost in the joy of the wine at hand..

Thanks for the notes, David.

Sounds like I am right to hold off a bit on the '06 Rhys Alpine, eh?

I wouldn't say right. It drank pretty well except for that road tar thing. Decanting might help a bit - get some air into the wine.

I'm sure you can wait (and I will with my other bottles).
