New Kids on the Block at HdR??

by TomHill » Fri Apr 10, 2009 12:49 pm

Finally started to do my homework for HdR on new producers I'm unfamilar with. I, of course, want the braggin' rights to say "I followed them from the very start". :-)
Any info anybody can supply on mind-behind or the wines would be appreciated.
Here's a few and a bit I know on some:
1. BarbieriWineCompany: Office in LasVegas, wines made in SantaBarbara.
2. BrianBensonCllrs: Good looking kid, but clueless.
3. CinquainCllrs: Clueless
4. CoterieCllrs: Clueless
5. DaouVnyds: Located in Paso/SantaLuciaMtns, vnyds look pretty impressive, planted on part of the old HoffmanMtnRanch
6. DeSuPropiaCosecha: Clueless
7. DomaineDegherWines: Clueless
8. FaussePiste: I was smitten by this name because the French term for a fencing strip (where you use swords...not a strip mall site where you sell stolen TV sets) is "piste". JesseSkiles is located just outside Portland. Has an '08 Viognier from Yakima to show. Will be making Syrah from UmpquaVlly.
9. ImagineWine: Located in LompocGhetto. Rather risque label that managed to get by TTB.
10. KATIN: Apparently also WilliamJamesCllrs in SantaMaria Coop. Bill & Robin Bogue.
11. kukkula: Paso WestSide.
12. MullineuxFamilyWines: New producer from Swaartland, SouthAfrica.
13. PelerinWines: Located in SantaLuciaHighlands.
14. RoxoPortCllrs: Paso producer that specializes in Ports. Interestingly, makes a Negrette Port from CienegaVlly vnyd.
15. StackedStoneCllrs: westSide Paso producer.
16. TorrinVnyd: TempletonGap producer.
17. Vines on the Marycrest: Clueless. Not sure I'd choose that name from a marketing standpoint.

Anybody able to add anything else? I want to be able to brag that I discovered the next SQN on eBob afore anybody else has, where those things are pretty important, and beat RP to the punch by several yrs, and the WS by a decade. :-)

Tom
Plenty of early info on 12. MullineuxFamilyWines: New producer from Swaartland, SouthAfrica on Wine-pages courtesy of Mr Prothero's involvement. Worth checking the superbowl notes for comments.

Perhaps you might want to rephrase that one Tom.
