Begging my Pegau CdP 2000

by JuliaB » Thu Apr 09, 2009 10:54 pm

Okay, first let me say that CdPs speak to me..they say, "Take me home and let me have my way with you" and I always oblige. I love them..I do not own them, they own me. (And they know it!)
So, tonight I take my lovely rare ribeye off the grill, open the Pegau 2000, and pull the blinds. This is going to be a night to remember...but alas, the conversation takes an unexpected turn..

Me: Helllloooooo baby! (in my best Barry White voice)
CdP: eh
Me: (swirling hard) <sniff>..Nice perfume, hon.(lush fruit rolled in mud)...you could have used a little more
CdP: hmmph
Me: (working up a sweat..hard swirling..giving it my best moves) C'mon baby..talk to me
CdP: (shrug)
Me: <sipping> Mmm nice tease..fruit is ripe..but..no..please, don't shut me out!
CdP: That's all you're getting tonight
Me: (tears in eyes) Honey..please..don't close the door
CdP: <slam>

Okay, experts..I have a few more Dom. du Pegau 2000s...please give me some advice!

I know nothing of the wine in question, but I must say this is one of the most interesting TNs I've read thus far. 8)

First of all, sorry to hear that it didn't work out better for you two, JB, but I'm sure that you two will work it out :P Now, prefacing this statement by telling you that I recently traded two '00 Pegaus for '01s, let me say that I usually let my bottles sit for about 8 years before broaching, so I would have expected yours to be OK, if still rather primary. However, I'm still sitting on my '90,'95 and '98-'01, so I can't give you firsthand data. A '99 I opened recently was in fine shape and notes on Cellartracker indicate that others have noted the need for several hours' decant to get much, so maybe hold off a bit longer on your remaining bottles (you do have some remaining bottles, doncha?)

Julia, you captured a great metaphor for a closed wine, but since Viagra doesn't work on CdP you're just going to have to be patient and give it time -- in your cellar or in your decanter.

How much time? Mark has the right angle: check the last few months' entries in Cellar-Tracker.

Is you 2000 Pegau a Capo or Reservee?

That has got to be the Reservee. The Capo always speaks like Ingrid Bergman.

Any chance I can be a CdP for a night?

Thank you Mark..it was just a little lover's tiff, I blame myself. I appreciate your input. I also have a '95, and a couple '01s of this wine. You say you you are still sitting on your '95?
I thought I had a '98 or two but can't find them. Perhaps lost in a moment of passion?

While we're talking CdP, what is your opinion about a '99 Dom Bois De Boursan? I was thinking it was ready for my next 'date'.

Ha! Robert, I didn't really consider this to be a TN (I don't write TNs very well)...more like a "day in the life" kind of thing.

Thank you, Clint..I guess I did get carried away in a moment of passion, I will try to be more patient!

As David said: "That has got to be the Reservee. The Capo always speaks like Ingrid Bergman."

You gents are so smart! Yes, it is a reservee, as are the others I mentioned in my reply to Mark.

Your comments are greatly appreciated!

Well, I've still got a few rotting in the cellar. I can smell the opportunity for an all-Pegau offline somewhere nearby.

That wine has been good to go for years now, JB. I've gone through several bottles of it already and may be down to my last (or it may be gone like your '98 Pegau -- I'll have to check tonight).

That is perhaps the most delightfully original way of presenting a note I've seen. Thanks!

Julia
The old adage applies... treat them mean, keep them keen.

On arrival, place them in a darkened corner of the cellar. No words, no secretive glances. Let them sit there in silence. And wait.

After such treatment, when you're ready for them, they'll be keen as anything to impress. 8)

I hope you are bringing an older one to MoCool! 8)

I love you dear, but that do not run yourself down! That is the best TN I've read in a while! Hall of Fame material IMNSHO.

I nominate JB's note for the TN HOF!!!!!

I second that! Excellent TN (or dialogue) Julia!
In line with Ian posted, instead of just ignoring them maybe you should play the “tease”. Maybe remove him from the bin or rack and “caress” him just slightly to excite him, bring him to a warmer part of the house to really get his molecules moving. Be strong and patient and return him to the cellar, sooner or later he will come around.

Why, thank you, gentlemen! This is such an honor, just to be nominated, I wonder if it's premature to start working on my acceptance speech? 8)
