Well, Steve....when you start to reach a certain vintage...you're not quite as quick on the pickup as you once were. You, of all people, should know that!!! :-)

Fairly good article. Interesting that Okanagan was not mentioned, always thought the Sandhill was pretty good. Ontario Cab Franc gets a well deserved mention.

Nice article Tom, good to see the East End of Long Island included in the mix.

CF from Virginia is good stuff. Just ask any attendee of NiagaraCool 2007. Howie or Robin can dredge up the thread. The Virginia wines did very well in a blind tasting.

I really enjoyed reading that article. It helps me appreciate how lucky I am to be in Washington, where (as the article points out) we have some terrific Cab Franc producers. My favorite has been Chinook for quite a few years; I love both their Red and Rose' bottlings.

Have you ever tried aging the roses? I just discovered that I have an inadvertent aging project going on with a bottle of same; should be interesting to see (come summer) what happens when one leaves it three years longer than intended.

I have also inadvertantly aged a Rose' or two; my most recent was a French Tavel. In general, the aged wines were drinkable, but seemed to have lost some of the spark that makes these wines so appealing in the first place.

Good luck -- Clark
