WTN: Zuccardi Q. Tempranillo 2005

by Bruce Hayes » Wed Mar 18, 2009 6:55 pm

Mendoza
Familia Zuccardi

Very dark purple in the glass.

Smoky, earthy, spicy, chocolate and peppery nose.

Light to medium bodied, very tangy, rich and fleshy black cherry, raspberry and cranberry fruit, chocolate, drying. With time, the wine picked up some body and weight, revealing a soft and full mouthfeel, but the drying tanginess remained.

A tangy, mouthwatering finish.

An impressive wine for the rich, full fruit, but I found the over-bearing dryness and tanginess to be a bit off-putting.

Purchased at $18.95 (Canadian).
