Barone Montalto
Sicilia
Dark red in the glass.
Light cherry, earthy, spicy on the nose.
Light to medium weight, spicy, very tangy and dry, raspberry and cherry fruit, red licorice, an earthy-rough streak.
The wine didn't stand up well to the meal (cassoulet), losing most of the fruit and turning quite tart, but it did come back after the meal.
An okay wine, but nothing special. One of the few wines from Sicily that I have tried and not greatly enjoyed.
Purchased at $9.95 (Canadian).
Screwcap closure.
