Côtes du Rhône.
I wanted to LOVE this wine. Many folks were raving about it but I found it rather ordinary. That's not to say there wasn't something good about it. It shows a beautiful purple color in the glass. It's very silky, and becomes more so the longer in the glass. It's balanced and the fruit is pure and not jazzed up by oak but the fruit is lacking, imho. It's like spreading the most amazing looking blackberry preserves on a baguette or scone and the anticipation is building until you bite and taste, um, where's the fruit? It looks good and feels good but is lacking the flavor that my mind assigned should be there, (the mind is a terrible thing ). I have a few more and will sit on them for a while as an experiment. 14.5% Alc/vol. $12
