Dr. Loosen Ürziger Würzgarten Kabinett 2007 8,5%; 55g/l RS; 8,3g/l acidity; 18€; and - bravo! - under screw cap
Fun stuff. Light as water. Smells promisingly steely so though no Kabinett is made any more, this has some hints towards that style. It smells primary and of pure Riesling with the slightly red toned fruit that I am used to seeing in this vineyard - despite the vineyard's name, I have never found them spicy, just red! Spätlese weight, good grip and refreshing acidity. The steel is covered in a layer of fat.
I have usually found Loosens a bit boring and simple in comparison to other Mosel producers, but this wine I rather enjoyed. It is an easy style, but fun. Sadly this is the only non-trocken German we have available. I'd like to see producers I like more.
