Château L'Eglise-Clinet Pomerol 1995
Thanks to Christian again, after a bottle in January was corked. Beautiful glossy-deep plummy ruby-black. Noble tobacco and fruit subtlety, lovely acidity balance, very long and finesseful yet thick, almost to the point of being ever so slightly petrolly (in flavour, too). Meatier and spicier with airing, then closing down after about three hours, with the new nutmeg-scented oak becoming more apparent. One of the top wines of the vintage, I believe. Rating: 95+/96(+?)

Château Pavie Macquin St. Emilion 1995
Contribution of mine. Less glossy colour than that of the Eglise-Clinet. A bit lighter and more tannic (although only on balance), but again nicely exotic and dried-fruity. Red-fruitier with airing, again adding that Lafleur- or Rayas-like floral touch of Kirsch. Minerally, quite deep. Not yet the greatest vintage perhaps, but love this wine, such beautifully expressive terroir. Rating: 91

Greetings from Switzerland, David.
