Hurriedly scribbled notes from an Italian lunch at Pepato last week.

Villa Fidelia Sportoletti 2001 - Extremely dark. Mint leaf and leather. Sweet cherry fruit, dried fruits. Coffee. Medium bodied. Very good.

Brovia Ca Mia Barolo 2001 - Beautiful nose. Very dry, classic. Still tannic. This wine has plenty of room to improve but is excellent now if given about 2 hours in a decanter.

Argiano Solengo 1996 - Very dry. Meaty. Smells like a library full of old leather-bound books. Surprisingly tannic. Still has room to improve but quite good now.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.
