WTN: 1998 Guiraud (Sauternes)

From 750 ml: Popped and poured. Nose of toffee and honeydew melon, and on the palate immediate flavors ripe bananas, melon and a bit of caramel. Less sweet than many Sauternes (which I always appreciate about Guiraud), with good acidity and not a lot of evident botrytis. Good length. With more time in the glass, the wine gains complexity and fills out with lemon juice, orange peel, cream soda and a bit of coconut. Excellent.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
