WTN: 2002 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Leistenberg Riesling Kabinett

Very pale yellow-green colour and tastes as young as it looks. Beautiful green apple, citrus and pine cone flavours over a core of slatey minerals and green herbal notes with refreshing acidity and a silken texture in the mouth. Finishes very long with just a hint of sweetness. Brilliant wine; incredibly quiet and refreshing and a delight to sit with over a couple of hours.

Sounds lovely. Perhaps a 2001 will make an appearance sometime in the next few months.

David/Anyone,
If you had only one bottle of the 2001, which is my situation, when would you open?

I would hope it is also a delight to drink over a couple of hours

Otherwise, interesting note. I like the way you describe it as 'incredibly quiet' in the positive sense, but I guess it has enough things going on so that it is not just quiet in a neutral boring way.

Quiet in the sense that the flavours don't jump out at you and hit you all at once, but build up very subtly and keep developing. Loved it. I'm looking forward to opening my 02 Dellchen Kabinett some time soon.
