Conti Zecca Primitivo del Salento IGT 2005
The strongest scent is sadly of oak, yet underneath that there seems to be a bright and refreshing wine with real personality - a real shame that that personality is obfuscated by oak. The palate isn't as strongly marked with oak and has bright acidity and plummy fruit, refreshing tannins. Nice palate but too much vanillary oak aromas on the scent.
I guess oaky aromas sell well? The glimpses that I saw behind the oak were very lovable, so I was very sorry that this wine wasn't allowed to be its natural self.
