WTN: '06 Drouhin Vero

by Dale Williams » Mon Feb 16, 2009 1:52 pm

With leftover chicken, broccoli stem pickles, and salad, the 2006 Drouhin "Vero" Bourgogne (rouge). Lighter side of pinot, red cherries and strawberries, some floral notes, bright acidity, light tannins. Tasty, but not especially deep or complex. A fair deal at $15, though nothing to get excited about. B

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C mediocre. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

I thought the same of the white Vero.

Burgundy for $15 that tastes decent is always something to get excited about. Geez, it must be February.

Dale, your assessment of the Vero mirrors mine, although I thought it a bit better than other 06 Burgs in that price range.

David, I agree, I did think the '05 was a bit better.

James and Doug, perfectly happy to have bought this, and to have one more.

Jenise, what year was the blanc- the '06? I haven't tried, but liked the white better than the red in a couple of the early vintages.

Dale, probably 05. I bought it over a year ago.
