WTN: 2006 Aramenta Cellars Reserve Pinot Noir (Willamette)

2006 Aramenta Cellars Pinot Noir Reserve - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (2/14/2009)

Ribbon Ridge AVA.

Purchased in July 2008 during a somewhat impromptu visit to the winery. Many times I've been seduced by a winery visit/experience and purchased bottles that I loved on-site, but didn't care all that much for later. This is not one of those cases. Bought a single bottle, but am kicking myself now for not buying more.

Not at all fruit forward and quite restrained by 2006 vintage standards. Unmistakable Oregon Pinot nose. Unsweetened cherry cola, tea, clove and some pine forest on the nose. Plenty of acidity to accompany the silky tannins. An elegant wine that finishes with Asian spices and a dose of black pepper.

Great match with the Beef Burgundy.
