I have a few bottles of the 2005 "Gneiss" bottling in the cellar. Perhaps time to revisit.

I had some bottles of Granit from a few vintages back. I remember them as unusually tangy and mineral; an acquired taste, probably, which I didn't have enough bottles to appreciate fully. I'll have another look because Muscadet is excellent with seafood particularly oysters, if we can get any after the devastating illness in the oyster beds last year.

I seem to recall posting something on a comparative tasting of the Gneiss and the Granit as a fairly controlled example of the effects of terroir. Whatever; they're terrific wines, and they'll take some bottle aging, too.

Quite coincidentally I had a couple of glasses last night of Expression de Gneiss 06 with a restaurant menu where the wines were chosen by the sommelier. I will post when I have retrieved my notes of that and the other wines from Germaine's handbag. Let me say, though, that I wouldn't recognise this wine from Wine Doctor's description of a few months ago; it was surprisingly supple for Muscadet.

The sommelier volunteered the news, which is also in the Wine Doctor's report, that the estate is up for sale. I guess that at the present juncture good offers will be hard to come by, so Bossard may remain in the saddle longer than he wants. I hope that his motivation won't suffer.

Didn't Alice Feiring just write that Bossard was retiring or selling his property or something?
I don't know just how I'm supposed to play this scene, but I ain't afraid to learn...
