I like the Roederer Estate better and it sells for $23 and Argyle is now $27. But when I have customers who want a sub $20
I will now use the Graham Beck. I like it better most of the other California sparklers. I think that it comes from South Africa makes it interesting as well.

Bruce Hayes wrote:Thanks for the notes Jenise. Here in Ontario there is a Graham Beck Brut, a 54-46 Chardonnay-Pinot Noir blend.

Do you suppose this is the same wine? It sells here for a bit more ($18.95), so I suspect that it might be.

PS: There is also a Blanc De Blancs Premier Cuvee Brut 2005 that is available.

Well, I just found 2 places in town that stock the Brut so will take a looksie.

Anyone tried the Graham Beck Sparkling Pinotage? it is red not BdN.

Lovely stuff and better than many a Sparkling Shiraz.

Haven't seen it here in the U.S., Warren. Wonder (to myself, not expecting you to answer) if it's imported?

Actually I've only seen the Graham Beck red sparkling pinotage in one place - Peter May's garden.

:) Based on the search I did yesterday you should be able to find it around over there, but Peter must have cornered the market because there's none over here.

Argyle at $27 is non-competitive for me. At that cost, I'll throw in a few more bucks and go French--though I've liked Argyle in the past, especially with a few years of bottle age, like most American bubbly it's not, for my tastes, in the same league.

Okay, just got back from the liquor store where I purchased two bottles of this ($18.95 Canadian), so I can see for myself just what all the fuss is about. :D
