Sometimes I find a wine that is really unique. Sometimes St. Estephs are very earthy and very good at the same time. 1989 Montrose comes to mind – or maybe it was the 1990. This particular nicely mature cru bourgeois (in my subject line) tastes like it came from the wet soil under a barnyard, and has wonderful cab fruit and complexity to boot. Nothing quite like it for the price. I paid $20 ea. for six or seven bottles in a little store in Saranac Lake, New York.
